If you are just starting your own journey of cooking your own meals, a good thing to take note of is that you will want to have the proper tools in your kitchen to make meal prep so much easier. However, that doesn’t mean that all kitchen gadgets are bang for the buck. You may think some of them are, but they’ll only eventually gather dust on the shelf. To avoid that, here are a few kitchen gadgets we’d like to recommend for your very own kitchen. This is for the person who wants to make sure that their kitchen is filled with things that are truly worth their money.
- Pressure cookers (similar to an Instant Pot) are one of the most sought-after gadgets for kitchens. As opposed to ordinary slow cookers, a pressure cooker allows you to prepare meals in half the time it would normally take. Busy schedule? No problem! Use a pressure cooker to get that home-cooked meal served in no time.
- Air fryers are small, concentrated ovens that produce crisp skin-on fries, meats, veggies, and more without the oil of frying food. It’s definitely a healthier way to cook, and it allows you to prep foods much faster than usual.
- No kitchen is complete without a blender. If big and bulky is not an option, then go for smaller blenders like a Ninja or Nutribullet. An immersion blender might even be what you’re looking for. These blenders are smaller and easier to manage and can make individual portions, too.
- Waffle irons make good waffles, but they can also make other stuff, as well. You can cook hash browns, omelets, grilled cheese, and even cookies in a waffle iron. A waffle iron is a great multi-purpose tool you’ll use often!
- A wok is a sauté pan that has a rounded bottom and smooth sides. Sure, a few pots and pans will get the job done, but for stir-fry, sauces, and soups, a wok is best. Their long handles let you hold it over a burner and shake and stir the food inside, heating the ingredients quickly and evenly. A wok might be challenging to use at first, but once you get past that stage, you will want to have a wok with you every time you cook.
- If you like avocados, you might want to get an avocado slicer for your kitchen. When opening and slicing avocados, it’s best to be careful since they can often be slippery — especially when you use knives. An avocado slicer is the safer way not only to open an avocado but to remove the pit and shell and create perfect-sized slices, too.
- Do you find yourself always reaching for canned food? If yes, then your cooking is not complete without a reliable canopener. Get one that is of good quality and at a decent price; the more affordable can openers don’t necessarily give you the best results for value. They will easily break or fail when you least expect them to. Hence, get a good one that will last you years.
- Every kitchen deserves to have a swivel peeler, too! If you don’t have one yet, you should get one soon. It comes in very handy when you’re cooking potatoes, squash, carrots, or other vegetables. If so, you will need a quality peeler that fits comfortably in the palm of your hand, and slices through a vegetables’ thick outer skin with ease. What a swivel peeler does is it automatically adjusts to your handling angle, making it very easy and efficient to peel whatever it is you’re using it on!
